Power-ups
The game features three types of power-up. When you eat a power-up, it makes you grow one part. However, it doesn't count as eating a food item. A power-up has a temporary effect on the snake. Because it is eaten, it becomes part of the snake. So if you die or run into yourself, you might lose the effect before it times out.
An active power-up
These are the possible effects:
- Slow-down (yellow)- reduces your speed for easier movement
- Score boost (purple)- gives you a double length bonus when eating items
- Shrink (blue)- makes you smaller for easier movement
Because of the time bonus, you might pass on Slow-downs. But what if you're having a hard time? Later in the game, power-ups are spawned in pairs and you have to select one. So you must decide quickly which one you need most at that moment.
